Daily Background — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Overview

Daily Background helps you browse space and Earth imagery and set photos as your Android wallpaper. This policy describes what data the app uses and how it is handled.

Data we collect

The app may store an anonymous install identifier and usage events on Firebase (for example: wallpaper sets, schedule changes, and app opens). We do not collect your name, email, or account credentials. Gallery images are read from Firebase Firestore; image files are downloaded from public NASA, Google Earth View, and Wikimedia hosts.

Wallpaper and scheduling

When you set or schedule a wallpaper, the app stores your preferences locally on your device (gallery choice, schedule time, display style, and Random Mix options). Scheduled updates run via Android WorkManager in the background.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the app can show alerts when a scheduled wallpaper changes. Notification permission is optional and controlled in Android settings.

Third-party content

Images come from NASA (APOD, EPIC, Mars rovers, Earth Observatory), Google Earth View, and Wikimedia Commons. Each source has its own terms and attribution requirements. Links to source pages are provided in the app where available.

Data sharing

We do not sell personal data. Anonymous usage events are stored in Firebase for product improvement. Firebase is operated by Google; see Google’s privacy policy for their data practices.

Your choices

You can disable gallery updates, turn off notifications, enable Wi‑Fi only downloads, or uninstall the app at any time. Local settings are removed when you clear app data or uninstall.
